What a Wonderful Experience awaits the shopper at Fairchild's Hardware. First, be prepared to enter a real timewarp taking you back as much as 100 years into the past. The store itself is a monument to the old time hardware store that carried a little bit of this and that and fulfilled all your grandfather's hardware needs. Add to that the top notch customer service, a blend of modern knowledge and old fashioned true personalized service puts this business at the top of the list when you need help to fix that item rather than throw it in the trash and buy a new one, and remember, as I have so often found to be the case, the new one is one half or less the overall quality of that old one so its probably a better choice to repair the old one than buy a new one. The first day I was there, Mr Fairchild himself was repairing the handle on a well-worn garden spade which apparently had a lot of personal history making it the favorite tool of its owner, for in spite of its well-worn blade, they couldn't part with the old one, so Mr Fairchild put on a new handle and went so far as to even paint the metal blade, try to find that kind of service at Home Depot....I sincerely doubt it.
